Mission Statement

We are a member of the “Deutschen Seemannsmission e.V.” based in Hamburg and dedicate all our activities to the welfare of all seafarers, in accordance with the mission statement of the Seamen’s Mission.

We see our special task in providing accommodation and meals for seafarers who are exposed to many hardships and strains because of and through their work. This naturally also includes an understanding of the special circumstances on board: days of travel to reach the ship and months of deployment at sea.

We aim to offer a piece of unconventional home and provide an alternative to anonymous accommodation in ordinary hotels.

Immediately upon coming ashore and at the first opportunity, seafarers can establish contact with home — a conversation, perhaps even with video contact via the internet thanks to modern communication. But also a conversation with a caring person in cases of personal conflict, brief advice, or even in-depth counseling.

Our staff provide all the necessary qualifications — knowledgeable and committed, and experienced in working with a straightforward yet warm-hearted clientele.

This is part of our support, and for this purpose we maintain this traditional and important point of contact for seafarers from all over the world.

We are equally proud of the work of our volunteers, who support us to the best of their ability and in the spirit of Christian social service (Diakonie).
